Is Janet Jackson Performing At The 2018 Superbowl?
It looks like there can be a chance that Janet Jackson might be making a return to the Superbowl halftime show in 2018 according to her father.
“Janet is ready to come back and I think it will happen,” he explained. “The way I brought her up she was made for comebacks and this is no different.”
In 2001, Janet Jackson shared the Superbowl halftime stage with singer Justin Timberlake when she experienced a wardrobe malfunction in which her nipple was shown during a dance routine. The incident was immediately called “Nipplegate” and has followed the singers for years after.
A few months back Timberlake confirmed his return to the Superbowl in 2018 and it’s rumored that Janet will be joining him.
Joe believes that his daughter will receive closure when she returns to the Superbowl. Explaining, “Janet always wanted to know she was not banned after what happened before.”
Joe confirmed that there have been discussions on Janet and Timberlake performing together again. “We know conversations have taken place secretly, but no-one is daring to say too much publicly until contracts are signed,” he explained.
Her performing he believes will help the NFL who has been struggling with ratings since the due to the boycott by many fans after Colin Kaepernick’s mistreatment by the league.
“We must not forget this show is about ratings,” said Joe. “No on publicly is going to discuss that, but the world and media know that the NFL is in a sticky place over fans reactions to their players taking a knee and protesting the national anthem.”
Joe couldn’t help but add that the performance wouldn’t just be for the NFL, but for fans that want to see her return. Adding, “The audience is expecting a show and I feel that they are expecting to see her too. It is what they want.”
