Mueller Details $6.7M Spent In Early Months Of Russia Probe

[ad_1] WASHINGTON (AP) — Special counsel Robert Mueller’s office says more than $6.7 million has been spent as part of his investigation into Russian election interference and possible coordination with associates of President Donald Trump. Of that price tag, only about $3.2 million was spent directly by the special counsel’s office. An additional $3.5 million was paid out by the Justice Department to support the investigation, though the special counsel’s office says that money would have been spent on ongoing probes anyway, even if Mueller had not been appointed. Mueller incorporated several active investigations within the Justice Department including those of Trump...

5 Common Problems Faced By African Americans Today

[ad_1] “Where slavery is there liberty cannot be, and where liberty is there, slavery cannot be.” The great Abraham Lincoln tried putting liberty and slavery into a simple and asynchronous relationship for us, but how far have we really progressed in achieving the liberty we Americans like to speak so proudly about? Did you know that the imprisonment rate for African American women is twice that of white women? Additionally, African Americans are incarcerated at a rate that is about 6 times that of white Americans. We may not have digressed too far from older times as these statistics depict a reminiscent of...

[ad_1] CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — The sharp divisions between Charlottesville residents and their elected leaders and police were on display at a tense, raucous City Council meeting, the first since the release of a scathing report on officials’ response to a white nationalist rally this summer. Q & A: Tax Bills Impacts On Health Law Coverage & Medicare

[ad_1] WASHINGTON (AP) — The tax overhaul Republicans are pushing toward final votes in Congress could undermine the Affordable Care Act’s health insurance markets and add to the financial squeeze on Medicare over time. Lawmakers will meet this week to resolve differences between the House- and Senate-passed bills in hopes of getting a finished product to President Donald Trump’s desk around Christmas. Also in play are the tax deduction for people with high medical expenses, and a tax credit for drug companies that develop treatments for serious diseases affecting relatively few patients.
