Little Known Black History Fact: Jerry Pinkey

[ad_1] Jerry Pinkney, a children’s book author and illustrator, has been internationally recognized for his contribution to the arts. Today is the Philadelphia native’s birthday, and we’re taking a look back at his highly decorated career. Pinkney was born in the Germantown section of Philadelphia in 1939. As a boy, Pinkney suffered from dyslexia and was withdrawn but found an outlet via art. Through the urging of teachers and notable cartoonist John Liney, Pinkney dove into the craft even further. Papa John’s Founder Stepping Down After NFL Comments

Easley NEW YORK (AP) — Papa John’s founder John Schnatter will step down as CEO next month, about two months after he criticized the NFL leadership over national anthem protests by players — comments for which the company later apologized. Schnatter will be replaced as chief executive by Chief Operating Officer Steve Ritchie on Jan. 1, the company announced Thursday. Grandmother Granddaughter Graduates College Chicago
