Trump’s Check Up Comes As Chatter About His Health Lingers

[ad_1] WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is getting his first medical checkup since taking office, a head-to-toe exam on Friday as questions swirl about the health and fitness of the oldest person ever elected to the nation’s highest office. In advance, the 71-year-old president has pushed back vigorously against suggestions he’s mentally unfit, declaring himself “a very stable genius.” Trump raised concern last month when he slurred some words on national TV. When asked about it, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said questions about Trump’s health were “frankly, pretty ridiculous” and blamed his slurred speech on a dry...

[ad_1] WHY ARE SO MANY BLACK MOTHERS DYING AFTER CHILD BIRTH? A pregnancy-related death is defined as the death of a woman while pregnant or within 1 year of given birth of any cause related to or aggravated by that pregnancy. So by this definition, Erica Garner, the activist who suffered a heart attack 4 months postpartum, was pregnancy-related. Our prior conditions, particularly stress, and often poor access to good healthcare and institutional racism are all contributing factors.  WHAT CAN BLACK MOTHERS DO TO HELP KEEP THEMSELVES HEALTHY AFTER CHILD BIRTH? After giving birth, every woman needs support. We need someone to cook...

Little Known Black History Fact: Thelma White Camack

[ad_1] The late Thelma White Camack occupies a small but important corner in the annals of Black history in the state of Texas. As a prospective student at Texas Western College, Camack was denied due to her race which prompted the NAACP to rally around her for their desegregation cause. Camack was born Thelma Joyce White on this day in 1936 and was raised in El Paso, Texas. She was the class valedictorian at Douglass High School for the 1954 graduating class, the same year of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision. After Camack attempted to enter...

North Carolina Ordered To Redraw Voting Maps That Favor GOP

[ad_1] RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Federal judges have ruled that North Carolina’s congressional district map drawn by legislative Republicans is illegally gerrymandered because of excessive partisanship that gave the GOP a rock-solid advantage for most seats and must quickly be redone. The ruling late Tuesday marks the second time this decade that the GOP’s congressional boundaries in the state have been thrown out by a three-judge panel. In 2016, another panel tossed out two majority black congressional districts initially drawn in 2011, saying there was no justification for using race as the predominant factor in forming them. The redrawn map was...

[ad_1] ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — Jon Gruden finally decided the time was right to finish what he nearly achieved in his first stint in Oakland and deliver another Super Bowl title to the Raiders. Nearly 16 years after he was traded to Tampa Bay following a crushing loss in the “Tuck Rule” game in New England and after a six-year courtship by Raiders owner Mark Davis, Gruden is officially back in Oakland where he started his head coaching career 20 years ago. Gruden was introduced Tuesday in front of a large crowd that included nearly 50 former Raiders and nine Pro Football...

Trump Says He’d Beat Oprah But Doesn’t Think He’ll Have To

[ad_1] WASHINGTON (AP) — President Winfrey? No way, says political prognosticator Donald Trump. “I’ll beat Oprah,” the president declared flatly at a White House meeting Tuesday — though he quickly added, “I don’t think she’s going to run.” Asked about all the presidential speculation suddenly swirling around Winfrey, the typically pugilistic Trump steered clear of nasty nicknames and colorful insults while sizing up such a potential celebrity showdown. “Oprah would be a lot of fun,” said Trump, who added that he knows her “very well.” Trump appeared on Winfrey’s long-running talk show in 1988 and again with his family in 2011, during her final...

[ad_1] WASHINGTON (AP) — Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon is stepping down as chairman of Breitbart News Network after a public break with President Donald Trump. Breitbart announced Tuesday that Bannon would step down as executive chairman of the conservative news site, less than a week after Bannon’s explosive criticisms of Trump and his family were published in a new book. Ginuwine Curves Transwoman On U.K. Reality Show

[ad_1] In case you’re not reading this from the United Kingdom, singer Elgin ‘Ginuwine’ Lumpkin is currently aboard the reality TV train and randomly starring on Celebrity Big Brother with a bunch of English folks we have no clue about. (Enlighten us, please, Brits. Just who are the other people?) This has led to some interesting moments between him and a British model/presenter/DJ named Ashley James who he seems to be feeling. But it’s also shown him curving a transwoman, India Willoughby,  also in the cast.  Willoughby tried to press the issue by attempting to kiss Ginuwine, who moved away and...
