Merriam-Webster’s Word Of The Year For 2017: ‘Feminism’

[ad_1] NEW YORK (AP) — This may or may not come as a surprise: Merriam-Webster’s word of the year for 2017 is “feminism.” Yes, it’s been a big year or two or 100 for the word. In 2017, lookups for feminism increased 70 percent over 2016 on Merriam-Webster.com and spiked several times after key events, lexicographer Peter Sokolowski, the company’s editor at large, told The Associated Press ahead of Tuesday’s annual word reveal. There was the Women’s March on Washington in January, along with sister demonstrations around the globe. And heading into the year was Democrat Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and references...

Turbulent Senate Race Now In Hands Of Alabama Voters

[ad_1] BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Depending on who is making the case, Alabama’s special Senate election Tuesday is about either continuing the “Trump miracle” in Washington or allowing “decency” to prevail back home. At the center is Roy Moore — “Judge Moore,” to his supporters. The 70-year-old Republican was twice ousted as state Supreme Court chief justice after flouting federal law, and now he’s attempting a political resurrection amid accusations of sexual misconduct with teenage girls when he was in his 30s. In Moore’s path is Democrat Doug Jones, 63, a former U.S. attorney best known for prosecuting two Ku Klux Klansmen...

Triple Lutz Report–Bitcoin Bubble Bust Coming–Episode 417

Bitcoin is nearly $3000! That's the good news. The bad news is that the Bitcoin chart is looking parabolic. Unless the end of the global financial system is arriving shortly, this can only mean that the price is being manipulated up, by the powers that be, to facilitate a major crash, thus undermining the confidence in crypto-currencies. To be decided shortly, mark my words.  In other news, President Trump will not be impeached, yet anyway. The Comey affair is a bunch of nothing wrapped up in yesterday's New York Times. Think about it, why would Trump fire Comey when he...

[ad_1] LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ash fell like snow and heavy smoke had residents gasping for air Monday as a huge Southern California wildfire exploded in size, becoming the fifth largest in state history and driving celebrities from a wealthy hillside enclave. Tens of thousands have fled their homes as flames churn through foothill towns near Santa Barbara, the latest flare-up after a week of wind-fanned wildfires throughout the region.
